Sad, bad, and more sad news.

Alright, I own a miniature dwarf hamster named Max. He is around 2 years old (maybe 2 1/2).

Just recently, he became paralyzed in his back legs due to an unknown reason, and just today I learned that his front paws are feeling the affect.

He cannot grip his food, and cannot get his water, so me and the family have to personally feed and water him. I feel so sad, he is just laying there doing nothing because he can't.

This morning I broke into tears holding him.

I don't know what I should do -- me and my mom are going to get him checked out at the Vet and if they say that it's going to get worse, I'm going to have to put him down.

And I cry once again.

Today, within the hour, Max has reached the end of his journey and is resting peacefuly above us.

Being born 2006 and dying 2008, he has filled our (me and my families) lives to the brink of happiness and has gained many pet friends, including Chloe (the cat) and the dogs (Ginger and Chase).

He will always have a home in my heart. santa

Rex, I am so sorry about your hamster. I know what it is like to lose animals. Oddly enough, i have found it easier to grieve to get another one right away even tho I say I won't replace them. You will have another hamster to play with. It won't be the same but you will find the company again. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

And I'm going to try not to get close to another pet again... seeing how distraught and saddened I am.

Sorry to hear about your hamster but he is in a better place not living with daily struggles...just keep him in your heart.....

I have never had a hamster before so I don't know how long it takes to get over the grief. As Jewell said he is in a better place now but I know you don't feel like that right now. Just think of him as when he could still run and play. I know he provided comfort and laughter to you. I'm behind you all the way.
